Coming up December 8th marks the 10th anniversary of Washington state’s implementation of the Smoking in Public Places Law, which made it illegal to smoke in public places, such as bars and restaurants, by amending the state’s 1985 Clean Indoor Act.
The Washington State Department of Health is planning to mark this important milestone by conducting several outreach activities – and would like your help raising awareness at the local level.
As members of the broad coalition it took to make this ban happen, Healthy Gen urges everyone to celebrate the ban and use the opportunity to further promote messages about the risks and dangers tobacco presents – both to those who smoke and also for those who are exposed to it. Here is the most current fact sheet on tobacco use and risks in Washington. Next week we will share with you a social media kit to promote the anniversary!
