HOPEtivists? HOPE(Health Opportunities for People Everywhere)tivists are people or groups of people who actualize strategies, approaches and ideas that bring hope to their communities.
Pastor Bill Ritchie (who is also the chairman of the Clark County Council for the Aging) is collaborating with the Council for the Homeless (a member of the Healthy Living Collaborative supported by Healthy Gen) in leading efforts to build a temporary, emergency village of 40 tiny houses for 50 homeless people immediately. This idea is totally innovative and the brainchild of Bill Ritchie's as recently as a few weeks ago. And it is for the ingenuity, innovation and rapid action that we salute Bill Ritchie and the Council for the Homeless as HOPEtivists making differences in our communities. To read more about this story, read the coverage from the Columbian here. As part of our appreciation this week and to advance this important project Healthy Gen is making a gift of $2,000 towards this project. We encourage everyone to consider a gift as well. If you'd like to make a gift, go here! And make sure and designate in the comments box that this is for the Tiny Houses project and as a salute to Pastor Bill and Council for the Homeless as our HOPEtivists of the week!
