Meet Matt Remle of Marysville, WA. He's an educator in the Marysville school district, a community advocate, and member of the Lakota tribe. Recently, Matt helped write and pass a resolution adopted by the Seattle City Council. This resolution is a formal recognition of the historic and lasting impacts of institutional discrimination carried out through Washington's state-sponsored boarding schools. Throughout the state's history (and up until as recent as the 1970's), Washington ran boarding schools that removed young Native Americans from their homes and intentionally stripped them of their cultural heritage.
